Hiya! I’m Moochkin and I’m happy to be your guide in the FaenoraVerse! First, you’re probably wondering – what is this all about? I’ve laid out some answers for you below (and recruited the team from 2TG to speak directly on some of the heavy hitters)!

TLDR: We are selling game characters (Mercenaries) in this pre-sale. Mercenaries are customizable pixel art hybrid NFTs usable in our roguelite tactics RPG, To the Grave: The Wildlands of Faenora. They are your ticket to our high risk, high reward web3 game mode as engaging as it is challenging and rewarding. The pre-sale will run for 30 days or until we hit our pre-sale goal (whichever comes earlier)! Game on!

Wildlands is a medieval fantasy pixel art roguelite tactical RPG game with a modern, roguelite twist. Think Final Fantasy Tactics meets Ogre Battle meets Slay the Spire and then they hang out and become best friends!

You can expect an engaging, replayable experience that you can come back to in bite-sized chunks or as a sit down epic to grind, build and grow! Currently our alpha demo is only playable on PC (browser and Steam), but as you’ll see, we have plans to expand to mobile and console so everyone can enjoy the Wildlands on their platform of choice.

Yes, we have two different versions of the game: the “Standard Edition” and we also have a “FaenoraVerse Edition”.

The Standard Edition will include only the Story Mode and any other game modes that have no web3 connectivity. The Standard Edition will be playable on Steam and on any platform that prohibits web3 functionality.

The FaenoraVerse Edition will include all game features, including the Story Mode and the Hunt Mode (discussed at length below). The FaenoraVerse Edition will be playable on browsers, Gaimin and any other platform that allows web3 functionality (see the “Goals” section for compatibility plans).

It’s quite simple - this is the type of game that we wanted to play and no one had made it yet.

All of our decisions around the game experience, design and development are driven by one focus: how will this make the game better (more fun, more engaging or more enjoyable)?

We want you to experience the magic of Faenora for yourself!

You can play our open alpha demo of the Wildlands story mode on your browser (https://www.faenora.world) or on Steam.

  • Game First Mentality: Everything we do is driven by one question: will this make the game better?
  • Exclusive Gaming NFT Characters: We are the first dynamically unique MPL-404 project that grants NFT holders with access to a highly competitive, high stake web3 game mode.
  • High Stakes Gameplay: We ratchet up the stakes by having a high-risk, high-reward web3 game mode (FaenoraVerse Edition only) built with the same game design principles that are the foundation of our foundational roguelite, tactical RPG game. This results in a holistic, ground up, cohesive game (from a web2 and web3 perspective).
  • Sustainable Payouts: Linear payout structure ensures long-term reward economy for players (without an inflationary token and the opposite of “ponzinomics” where money from new players is needed to pay out earlier players) who can use their rewards to purchase additional FaenoraVerse characters, unique in-game cosmetics and spend on in-game items and features.

We have a game. We have a vision. We have the talent to execute on it (as we have shown via the alpha demo). The Wildlands pre-sale will help us ramp up our development and truly realize our vision without giving up creative control to outside investors who might have financial interests that conflict with the long-term interests of our community, our players and our creative vision.

Below you’ll find the targeted features that we plan to develop if we hit the associated pre-sale / mint targets. We are currently going full steam developing the game and we’re not stopping. The more we sell, the more awesome features we can add and the sooner you can play them!

Weare selling Mercenaries and Villagers, which are game characters usable in the FaenoraVerse Edition of the Wildlands. Everyone who spends at least 50USDC in the pre-sale will also get a digital copy of the premium Wildlands game when that launches and early access to the Hunt Mode beta launch. For full details on Mercenaries and Villagers, read more under “What are Mercenaries and Villagers?” below!

If you contribute to the pre-sale in an amount that doesn’t equal the exact Villager / Mercenary cost, then for the excess amount, you will receive the remaining value in $MCHY tokens (which is a premium in-game currency usable in the Wildlands to purchase / unlock game features, cosmetics and equipment, as further detailed below, and can be used towards the purchase of another Villager or Mercenary).

We have no blockchain features or integrations in the Standard Edition of the Wildlands.

In the FaenoraVerse Edition of the Wildlands, we do have blockchain (AKA web3) features that are usable in the game. We believe that certain features available only through blockchain technology can be used to make the game even more engaging.

We would love to point you to another game as an example that is nailing that balance, but, quite frankly, we hope to be the first to truly achieve that!

Our use of blockchain features is deliberate and focused – our sole priority is making the game experience better. This means that the blockchain features are optional in our game – so if you want to play the basic story mode of the Wildlands with its own deep customization, engaging strategic gameplay and extensive roguelite elements, you can! If the web3 features appeal to you (like those listed below), then you can dive right in and contributing to this web3 kickstarter will be a perfect launchpad for your journey.

Mercenaries are minted on the Solana blockchain to unlock awesome benefits for the players that own Mercenaries, including:

  • game character / equipment ownership and transferability,
  • participation in the high-risk, high-reward game economy of the Hunt Mode,
  • interoperability with other games / entertainment mediums, and
  • exclusive game rewards for playing our games or participating in our community!

A close-up of a signDescription automatically generated

Blockchain is a technology. A tool in a vast toolkit. If someone wants to make a house with only a bunch of lumber and a hammer, you’ll end up with something that hardly resembles a house. This is what happens if someone tries to develop a game and the only unique feature is blockchain – a bashed up pile of wood scraps listed on www.realtor.com.

At 2TG, we don’t make blockchain games. We make good games. There are optional blockchain features included in the FaenoraVerse Edition of Wildlands. If you like our blockchain features, then you can explore the incredible depth and additional game experience that those features provide! If you don’t like them, then there is still a completely unique, engaging and solid game that you can enjoy on its own without touching a wallet, $MCHY token or a Mercenary.

At 2TG, our priority is the game experience. This means that we will only add features and use technology that we believe will make the game better. That’s our commitment to you and to ourselves.

Mercenaries and Villagers are game characters that are playable in the Wildlands FaenoraVerse Edition!

Here are some key facts about Mercenaries:

  • Mercenaries have unique gameplay abilities and strategic advantages, including class changes and unique skills.
  • Mercenaries can be re-rolled or swapped for $MCHY tokens.
  • Mercenaries are your ticket to earning rewards in the exclusive Hunt Mode by slaying netherbeasts.
  • Each Mercenary can be customized allowing you to tailor your squad and dominate the Wildlands in style.

Here are some key facts about Villagers:

  • Villagers have basic combat abilities, though they are weaker in battle than Mercenaries and cannot change classes.
  • Villagers can be re-rolled or swapped for $MCHY tokens (1/4 rate compared to Mercenaries).
  • Villagers are your ticket to earning rewards in the exclusive Hunt Mode by slaying netherbeasts (1/4 rate compared to Mercenaries).
  • Each Villager can be customized allowing you to tailor your squad and dominate the Wildlands in style.

Any Mercenary or Villager that you obtain is owned by you, represented by a hybrid non-fungible token (NFT) on the Solana blockchain.

A close-up of a signDescription automatically generated

A “hybrid NFT” is an NFT that is swappable for tokens and vice versa. This sounds very complicated, but the reason that we are using a hybrid NFT system is that it plays perfectly within our gamification model to have a consistent, engaging game design from the most basic gameplay layer through to any web3 feature we have in the game.

How are hybrid NFT mechanics used in Wildlands?

There are a few main ways that the hybrid NFT is used in the Wildlands:

  1. Rolling and re-rolling. On mint, you will roll your Mercenary. The Mercenary that you roll will have a particular rarity (common, rare, epic or legendary), a particular class (squire, archer, knight, cleric, witch or fighter) and a particular innate skill (the awesomeness is dependent upon the Mercenary’s rarity). Using the re-roll system, you can re-roll your Mercenary to try for a new Mercenary with a different combination of rarity, class and innate skill.
  2. Swapping to $MCHY tokens. You may find that your strategy is best achieved by swapping a Mercenary or Villager to $MCHY tokens to use in-game. We make that easy with a fixed swap rate (determined on mint launch), so that you always have that option.
  3. High risk/high reward economy. The Wildlands is a scary place and Mercenaries don’t have the benefit of a Phoenix Amulet to revive them every time they die. If a Mercenary or Villager dies in the Wildlands and the owner doesn’t want to pay $MCHY to revive them in-game, then the Mercenary or Villager can be swapped into $MCHY tokens (at the base swap rate) or re-rolled as a new Mercenary or Villager and fight another day.
  4. Longevity. We want to reward our early supporters and we are very aware of the risk of power creep. With a hybrid NFT system, we can set the swap value for next generation characters in the Wildlands at a lower NFT / $MCHY token exchange rate, so the early supporters can swap 1st generation Mercenaries or Villagers for a greater number of next generation characters.

Our approach to the game economy is simple: 90% of all $MCHY tokens spent in the Hunt Mode go back to you, the players.

The remaining 10% is allocated to 2TG to support the further development of the Wildlands of Faenora and the FaenoraVerse.

We are committed to a fair launch system, with no external VCs involved, so there’s no risk of sudden token dumps by investors. We’re self-funded to date (plus a grant from Metaplex DAO for our innovative MPL404 integration) and we are focused on creating a stable, player-first economy.

Using the hybrid NFT, the NFT is your in-game asset: your Mercenary game character to level up, customize, compete, earn, trade and stake for in-game rewards. You can also swap any Mercenary into $MCHY tokens, which can be used in the Hunt Mode to utilize perks, purchase cosmetics, heal and revive Mercenaries and more! More details on the Mercenaries and $MCHY tokens are set out below. Our gamification structure aligns our game and ecosystem with players’ interests long-term.

The Hunt Mode is a high-reward, high-stakes gameplay mode in the Wildlands FaenoraVerse Edition where Mercenaries can be customized and go out on hunts to vanquish monsters and beasts corrupted by the Netherrealm (Netherbeasts).

Hunt Mode Gameplay

The gameplay is the same engaging roguelite, tactical RPG as our Story Mode (remember, the alpha demo is playable now at https://faenora.world/!) as you’ll venture into the Wildlands to slay as many beasts as possible.

You can lead a squad of up to 6 Mercenaries or Villagers on a hunt.

At the end of each 10 paths that you venture forward, you will be faced with a netherbeast – a beast more vicious than the rest. Conquer this netherbeast, and you will be awarded Nether Talons for your bravery. The more Nether Talons you collect, the greater your reward (see $MCHY tokens below!).

Hunt Mode Story

Your Mercenaries begin in the town of Donegal. A makeshift town full of mercenaries, mages, rogues and adventure seekers, all recruited by the War Hero General Faulkner to quell an incursion of monsters through a broken nethergate. While General Faulkner and his squadron of elite warriors were able to seal the nethergate, they could not prevent innumerable foul creatures to slip through before the sealing ritual was completed. Due to internal turmoil and the King’s desire to keep the nethergate breach in the shadows, the General was tasked with hiring mercenaries trading gold and other treasures for their blades and their discretion to hunt down and eliminate the monsters that remain.

Death of a Mercenary

A screenshot of a video gameDescription automatically generated

Beware! A failed strategy has true consequences and death in the Wildlands is a terrible thing. If your Mercenaries or Villagers die in the Wildlands, then death’s clock begins to tick.

You must move quickly to engage the local healer in Donegal (costs $MCHY tokens), use a revival item or find a Healing Spring (if they are on the hunt with you, though the dead cannot join new hunts).

However, if you wait too long, your Mercenary or Villager will perish. You can hire a sage healer to revive your perished unit, but such a healer requires a costly sum (of $MCHY). If the cost of a healer is too pricy, then you can simply re-roll for a new unit, though you will lose the perished unit (including any equipment).

Sponsoring Hunts: The Financier

A video game screen with a person in a robeDescription automatically generated

Sending Mercenaries on hunts costs money, but you can’t expect the Kingdom of Faenora to foot the whole bill. A pioneering financier has appeared in Donegal, who allows others to join him in sponsoring hunts. If you have any extra $MCHY tokens lying around, why not put them to work and share in the hunt rewards as a sponsor?

For more details, see “How can I earn $MCHY tokens in Wildlands”.

The Travelling Tailor

A video game screen with a mirror and cartoon charactersDescription automatically generated

If a Mercenary is going to risk its life for a couple $MCHY tokens, why not do it in style? With a comprehensive character customization system never before seen in a game like this, you can do just that. Discover new barber guides, hair dyes and clothing blueprints in the Wildlands to unlock new character customization options so your Mercenaries can stylishly stab and fashionably fight. We also have exclusive customization options for those who participate in the pre-sale!

A customized Mercenary can be sold with all customization elements intact (so you might fight particularly cool looking Mercenaries are more desirable if you’d want to trade or sell them).

Where do the Hunt Rewards come from?

90% of the $MCHY tokens spent in the HuntMode will go into a rewards pool to be earned as rewards for in-game activities.

Wealso spoke with our community to settle on the right price for the Mercenaries and fix a separate rewards pool from the mint proceeds. As a result of that process, we are allocating 10% of the mint proceeds towards prizes to players over the course of the first four seasons of Hunt Mode content!

A close-up of a signDescription automatically generated

Absolutely. We want to make sure everyone who participates in our ecosystem is well taken care of with thoughtful opportunities to participate in the project and game economy.

You might be particularly interested in the sponsorship aspect of the game. By visiting the Financier in Donegal (the main town in the Hunt Mode), you can use tokens to sponsor hunts (through staking). As a sponsor, you will share in the hunt rewards as well!

We will also continue to deepen the gamification layers for gamers and non-gamers alike.

In addition to the Wildlands of Faenora, we have 2 other games in development (Battle for Faenora, a multiplayer strategy RPG, and another casual game) and several additional game concepts in the works that we plan to include integration and usability with Mercenaries.

InnerSection image

A close-up of a signDescription automatically generated

$MCHY tokens are used as in-game currency in the Hunt Mode in the Wildlands of Faenora. You can use $MCHY tokens for a number of different in-game activities including:

  • Character customization
  • Choosing perks when going on hunts
  • Promoting mercenaries to other classes
  • Purchasing items from the Nethershop
  • Healing and reviving Mercenaries or Villagers
  • Unlocking a Netherbox for unique equipment and cosmetics [Stretch goal]
  • Mercenary rebirth at maxed level for increased rarity, rerolling skills or upgrading class [Stretch goal]

Of course, the $MCHY token can also be used for re-rolling a Mercenary or Villager to try for a different class, innate skill, or rarity.

All $MCHY tokens spent within the Hunt Mode will go into a pool where 90% of the $MCHY token pool will go back into the ecosystem for players to earn!

A close-up of a signDescription automatically generated

At the mint launch release, there will be two main ways to earn $MCHY tokens by playing the Wildlands Hunt Mode (only available in the FaenoraVerse Edition and requires Mercenaries or Villagers):

  • 50% of the $MCHY tokens spent in-game will be allocated to hunt-based rewards (you will earn $MCHY by going on hunts and killing monsters).
  • 40% of the $MCHY tokens spent in-game will be allocated to sponsor-based rewards (you will earn $MCHY by depositing your $MCHY tokens with the Financier in Donegal to sponsor the hunts).
  • In each case, you will participate with other players equally based on your contribution (whether it’s based on the beasts that you kill compared to all other players or the $MCHY you deposit based on all $MCHY deposited).
  • As we add more features, these proportions will be adjusted as additional opportunities arise to earn $MCHY tokens.

Remember – only 10% of the $MCHY tokens spent in-game will go to the studio and we’ll be using our portion for the continued development of the game and growth of the FaenoraVerse.

This model allows players and web3 interested non-players to both participate in the FaenoraVerse ecosystem. This also ensures our ecosystem operates as a complete, sustainable closed loop system.

InnerSection image

In shaping the initial supply of Mercenaries, we combined insights from community engagement during the alpha demo with data and analysis of other collections with the web3 gaming space. Over 4,500 players played the alpha demo, which provided valuable data on community interest, playstyle and in-game behaviour. This foundation allowed to us gauge the level of commitment of the gamers and the types of gameplay that resonate most with our player base.

We are initially focused on a manageable, high engagement community that can scale based on demand without inflating the supply. So, we developed a closed loop ecosystem which doesn’t rely on inflation to provide rewards. How can we do this? Because players are competing with each other for the biggest share of tokens spent in-game. This means that whether there are 100 players, 1,000 players or 100,000 players, proportionally the competition (and rewards) will remain the same. (Of course, we will also set aside additional rewards for the players from our mint for some added oomph and a thank you to our dedicated gamers!)

The Hunt Mode is high risk and high reward. Our expected audience is elite, competitive tactics RPG players who want to dive into the Hunt Mode – those who value intense challenges, strategic gameplay and top tier rewards. For those players interested in a different pace, the Story Mode is a great alternative, focused on a more narrative-driven experience without the added intensity of harsh consequences for strategic failures and abundant rewards for tactical brilliance.

Launching with a smaller, dedicated player base allows us to test and refine the core experience without risking inflation in the ecosystem. Our focus is on our most committed players to lay the foundation for a scalable, sustainable ecosystem. So, we set the initial supply of Mercenaries as a deliberate investment in building a strong, dedicated community that will grow as our ecosystem grows.

You can play the game now, so that should alleviate any concerns that the game won’t happen (though you’ll have to make your own opinion on the awesomeness of the game as you play the alpha demo!).

There are some risks around the project that you should be aware of and we want to point them out to give you the full scoop.

  • The Hunt Mode. We are in full development mode putting together the Hunt Mode and are thrilled with how it’s coming together. That said, until the game build has gone gold and is ready for launch, we face potential risks that could delay or otherwise adversely impact development, like market conditions, pesky bugs, or other unexpected challenges associated with development, regulations or business matters. We are absolutely going to try our best to deliver this as soon as possible (with the caveat that we won’t allow that desire to get in the way of making sure the game experience is solid and meets our expectations of how a game beta should be launched). The Hunt Mode will initially launch as a beta game mode, so there are also the typical risks that players should expect associated with a beta build. We will also be careful to make sure that is marketed appropriately.
  • Other projects using Mercenaries. We can’t promise that any other web3 game will fully embrace using Mercenaries in their games or that there will be any interoperability of our Mercenaries or Villagers in other gaming or digital entertainment experiences. That said, we have developed a proof of concept for The Battle for Faenora, a multiplayer real-time squad-based strategy RPG that we plan to fully develop and launch as well which will utilize Mercenaries. The timing and completion of The Battle for Faenora has its own risk factors around development funding, availability of resources, market conditions, etc. But we really want to finish that as well.
  • Other factors outside of our control. We are working with certain third-party providers to ensure that we are putting together the best web3 functionality in terms of engaging game experience, security and stability. For the service providers that we use, for the Solana blockchain as a whole and for any NFT marketplaces that our NFTs are trading on, we are relying on them to do their job in the way that we expect but we can’t control them.
  • Forward-looking statements generally. This is a standard legal disclaimer statement that, while classic legalese, is important here. We are working hard on this game and view the Wildlands as the inaugural cornerstone of the FaenoraVerse castle that we are building – an entire brand, ecosystem and web of digital entertainment products that showcase how we can take digital entertainment to the next level. But that’s the future. While all of our plans and the features mentioned here are reasonably within our grasp, we can’t predict the future. There are a lot of things that could change our plans, our ability to succeed and the project’s viability generally and many of those things are outside of our control. By contributing to our pre-sale, you are acknowledging and accepting those risks.

There is no financial benefit, and you cannot expect any profits or other financial rewards, from participating in the pre-sale or by purchasing a Mercenary or Villager. Mercenaries or Villagers and $MCHY tokens are usable in the Wildlands game and intended for game use and entertainment only. We do not guarantee any feature, function or benefit from owning or acquiring Mercenaries, Villagers or $MCHY tokens outside of intended usability in the FaenoraVerse Edition of the Wildlands game. Mercenaries, Villagers and $MCHY tokens are not securities, do not grant you any interest as an investor in any 2TG entity and you will not have any rights or privileges as a securityholder or shareholder (under any securities laws or otherwise) in connection with any ownership of Mercenaries, Villagers or $MCHY tokens or contributions to the Pre-Sale. We neither represent nor guarantee that: (a) any marketplace will list or maintain the listing of Mercenaries, Villagers or $MCHY tokens, (b) you would be able to exchange any Mercenary, Villager or $MCHY token for anything else of value; or (c) we would take any action or effort to make possible or encourage such a listing or exchange mechanism.

You should treat this like any other videogame kickstarter – if you contribute to the pre-sale it is because you want to play the game and use the Mercenaries, Villagers and $MCHY tokens in the game.
